Replace pictures, keep sound

PostSat Apr 20, 2013 8:16 am

I have an existing video clip. I want to replace part of the video with another clip (or pictures) but keep the sound from the original clip throughout.
Ex: One person is talking/explaining for several minutes. In the middle of his speech I want to replace the video of him with different video clip, but want to keep the original sound (his speech) throughout.

You can detach the audio from your original clip and replace the video content in iMovie very easily. To detach the audio, right click on the clip and select "Detach Audio". Then a purple track containing the original clip audio appears below your clip.

To replace the original video clip, go to your event library and select a different clip the same length as the original clip. Then drag it over your original clip and click "Replace" on the small pop-up box.

If you have a picture, drag it into your project and make it the same length as the original video clip. Then drag the detached audio under the picture and delete the other clip.
